A piece of Youngstown history is shining bright again.
The original bronze and brass lighting fixtures from the historic Ohio Edison Building — now known as Ohio One — have been reinstalled on the front facade after spending many decades in storage. Their return marks another important step in restoring the elegance, craftsmanship, and original character of the Boardman Street entrance.
These fixtures are more than decorative details. They are part of the building’s architectural story. From the warm glow of the bronze and brass to the craftsmanship that defined the original facade, the lights help reconnect the building’s present with its past.
As part of the exterior restoration work, the awning boxes along the entrance were also rebuilt, sanded, and repainted to restore their original appearance. Together, these improvements bring new life to one of the building’s most visible and historic features.
We are grateful to the City of YOUngstown for its facade grant support, which helped move this restoration work forward. Investments like these make a meaningful difference in preserving downtown’s historic buildings while encouraging continued reinvestment in the heart of the city.
At Ohio One, our goal is to honor the history of this landmark building while creating new opportunities for business, community, events, and connection in downtown Youngstown.
The lights are back where they belong — and the future of Ohio One continues to get brighter.
