A Sneak Peek Inside “The Shaft” at Ohio One

Every historic building has spaces that tell a story — some grand and obvious, others tucked away, unexpected, and full of possibility.

At Ohio One, one of those spaces is beginning to get some attention: “The Shaft.”

Carolyn Cappabianca & Joanna Hall Touring Ohio One

Recently, Carolyn Cappabianca and Joanna Hall stopped by Ohio One and brought some great energy into the building. Their visit gave us a chance to walk through a few of the spaces we’ve been imagining for future use — including a spot that may become one of the most unique private event settings in downtown Youngstown.

“The Shaft” is exactly the kind of space that makes Ohio One special. It has character, history, texture, and a little bit of mystery. It does not feel like a standard event room, and that is the point. We see it becoming an intimate setting for private gatherings, small celebrations, cocktail-style events, networking receptions, and memorable nights with a downtown backdrop.

The vision is still taking shape, but the response so far has been encouraging. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh set of eyes, a few good conversations, and the right people in the room to see what a space could become.

Ohio One has always been about more than restoring a building. It is about bringing new life, energy, and purpose back into a historic downtown landmark. From offices and member spaces to private events and community connections, each piece of the building has its own opportunity to contribute to that next chapter.

So yes — here is a little sneak peek at what may become a perfect little spot for private events.

More to come from The Shaft at Ohio One.
